This is an acrylic painting of a lake behind my house. This project taught me how to improve my ability to blend paint. I learned how to create a gradient for the sunset. Another aspect I included in my painted is background, I have the lake in the mid-ground and the trees in the background. This painting helped me improve because while creating this landscape I learned more about color theory and how to blend colors and create gradients. For this street painting I used acrylic paint. For the art-making process I found multiple reference photos, found tutorials, and practiced sketching the photos. These are buildings found in downtown Apex and I was inspired because I love going downtown and I wanted to paint a street with buildings, so this painting is meaningful for me. I learned how to use one-point perspective and the scale of the objects to make the painting look more realistic. I used different colors for the buildings because I wanted to add some contrast and I learned more about using tints and shades to add dimension to my painting. I believe that this artwork is successful because it looks like the photo that I took and I felt that I did a good job with shading. This is a graphite drawing of a pair of converses. I improved my ability to blend through this project. I find that my use of proportion and scale helps the shoes look more realistic and more like the photo. This drawing is meaningful to me because these are my favorite shoes and I wear them all the time, so drawing them added symbolism to my work because not only are they shoes, but they also symbolize me.

For this challenge I decided to create a painting of a boardwalk and that it would be an improvement from my other paintings. I did not have time to finish, but I could already see that I had learned more about foreground, mid-ground, and background, I have also learned more about one-point perspective. I hope that when this painting is finished it will show my improvement with my painting abilities.
This is my acrylic painting which I created for the challenge-challenge and the learning-challenge. I created an one point perspective painting of the street in Downtown Apex. I improved in my painting abilities and I learned more about perspective.
This is my bird collage series. I took strips of a certain color for each background, then I cut out different birds and outlined them with newspaper. This project helped me learn the importance of focus in artwork. For example the main focus for each collage is the bird, if I didn't outline the birds with newspaper then they wouldn't be the main focus and they would disappear into the background. I also used a new medium which was rubber cement, this was an interesting form of glue that worked nicely because it was stronger than Elmer's glue.
This is my painting sketch and my finished painting and drawing Above is my painting sketch, I used this sketch to experiment with colors for the sunset and adding ripples to the water. This practice helped me learn techniques with acrylic paint, such as blending two colors together. This is my finished landscape painting. I painted a picture of my backyard while the sun was setting. I changed some of the colors in the sky and the water, so I didn't end up using the all of the colors in my practice sketch. I learned about painting complementary colors on top of each other to make the top color brighter. This is my drawing. I drew a landscape of the northern lights using chalk pastels. This was the first time I used chalk pastels as a medium. This project helped me learn about different mediums.
